My Story

Hi, I'm Arunava Sarkar The name of my blog is ‘Arunava Sarkar’s Snapshots'. This blog will help you to click extraordinary images with an ordinary camera. You don't need any very high level SLR camera. You can also click excellent images with any good point & shoot (preferably semi-SLR) camera. The main thing is you should understand some basic & fundamental topics in photography. If you can apply these things at proper time then you can capture images like a pro(Professional). If you can apply these things at proper time then you can capture images like a pro(Professional). Because carrying a SLR camera every time creates a lots of pressure both on your shoulder and pocket. So semi-SLR is better than other other point & shoot camera; because it gives more customizing options than the ordinary point & shoot cameras, and at the same time not as costly and weighty as any SLR.
In my early days I also faced so many problems in selecting a proper camera, frankly speaking friends this is not a easy job, if you take it seriously. And if photography is your hobby this is the first nut you have to crack for moving forward. But don't be tensed friends, I am here to help you to solve the problem. Hope after reading this post the selection will be easier for you. If you have any confusion or you want more information on any of these topics then please feel free to comment.

I started blogging to share my experience to you which I got at the time of clicking various images. I think this will help the people who want be a good photographer. People are often very confused about the type of camera at that time when they went to buy a camera. They can’t understand they will go with which brand? How many megapixels? Zoom? Many people think that more megapixels will improve the quality of their images it is not entirely wrong, but not as much as people normally  think.  Do  you   know  that  if  you  print  images  of  5”  x  7”, then a 2 MP(megapixel) camera is sufficient for you? I  know  you are very surprised but this  is  the  exact fact. The advantage  is when you chose cameras with higher resolution, then you can crop the image to out your desirable portion. For this purpose an 8MP camera is sufficient for digital photography. But now-a-days maximum digital cameras available in the market have resolution of 10MP. That is enough for any people, if he/she does not interested to print any hooding from the images taken in the camera. Other than no of megapixels there are several other factors which are more important. They are ISO-number, f-number, focal length etc.

After buying a camera most people normally stick to the 'Auto'(Automatic) mode at time of click. This is the main difference between an ordinary photographer & the pros. But when you think of switching to ‘P’ mode, you become very confused about the customization of the camera. So, you can’t ignore the settings defined by the camera itself. You need a little learning & practice to obtain the efficiency. The pros always stick to ‘M’(Manual) mode. They don’t depend on the settings selected by the camera; they also define each individual setting. If you can understand the settings properly then you can also use the ‘M’ mode, or ‘P’(Program) mode. The ‘P’ mode requires less customization than the ‘M’ mode. You can do this by only practice & a little learning.

If you follow my blog properly (especially the notes attached with the images), then you can get a wide knowledge about these settings & you can also click in ‘M’ mode or at least in ‘P’ mode. Beside the normal we can also click in ‘Black & white’ mode and ‘Sepia’ mode. This varies from purpose to purpose. So buddies don’t think too much at the time of clicking any image, just check some basic settings of your camera & click the image. Practice is the only thing which can make you perfect.

When you read my blog, then keep in mind my gadgets. I use Canon PowerShot series. So my you find appropriate guide if you have a canon device. If you are using any other device then my suggestions may vary slightly. Don't be worried the configurations of all cameras are similar to many extent, and if you feel any difficulty in understanding any instruction please feel free to contact with me.

    1. It is very good that you don't has any knowledge about photography, but you want to know about it. It will require some time to learn about it. At present I think you can't understand the "P" & "M" mode in photography. These need a little more experience & knowledge. Please follow this blog & after buying a camera first learn to click proper images in "Auto" mode. Then after some time you will normally learn it. If you want to see more images please go to facebook page of this blog. To decide proper camera you can go through the post Selecting a proper camera(http://arunssnapshots.blogspot.in/2013/08/selecting-a-proper-camera.html). Don't afraid I'm always here to help you people. Keep reading the blog & also keep commenting...
